Thank you for your interest in participating in the Meet-a-German initiative of Fulbright Germany and the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) as part of Wunderbar Together 2021.

Meet-a-German will be organized as a virtual event. This means that matched speakers will conduct their classroom sessions via Zoom or an alternative video conferencing platform. Please be aware that it is the responsibility of the teachers to invite the speaker to the platform that the school/class uses. As a participant, please make sure that all necessary technical equipment for the virtual event is available, e.g. laptop camera & microphone.

That being said: If COVID-19 permits, you are in the USA at the time and are matched in the area (which we strive for), you could also meet in person by individual arrangement and at your own risk.

Please complete this questionnaire by August 16 to register. We look forward to receiving your information and will get in touch with you after August 16.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us via email: meetagerman@fulbright.de.

Kind regards,

Address for Matching

Please note: Meet-a-German is organized as a virtual event. However, we will still base the matching process on geographic proximity for speakers who live in the U.S. or who plan to move there soon. This way – COVID-19 permitting and if we were able to match you with a school in the area – you are also free to meet in person instead by individual arrangement and at your own risk.

If you do not currently live in the U.S., but will move to the U.S. by October 6, we will use your future U.S. address for the matching process. If you do not know your future address yet, please enter the address of your future university or place of work. Moreover, if the autofill system is unable to locate your address, please enter an address close to you.

So: If you live in the U.S. or Germany permanently, please click “Same as above”. If you are planning to move to the U.S. by October 6, please click “Other” and state your future U.S. address as detailed as you can.

Affiliation

If applicable,

(e.g. affiliated with other exchange organizations such as DAAD, au pair organizations, foundations)

Website profile

For our Meet-a-German campaign we would like to use a short profile (first name, age, and occupation) on our website, for example: Sarah, 23, Student. Do you consent?

II. Host School

If you are living in the U.S. or plan to do move there soon, we encourage you to get in touch directly with a school in your community to plan a Meet-a-German session. If not, we will try to connect you with a school:

Please note: Speakers and schools are responsible for coordinating the timing of the virtual classroom session on October 6, 2021 amongst themselves once they are matched. If the speaker is located in Germany, time zone differences should be taken into consideration.
